Russian Women And Popular Culture
Many people have grown up seeing television shows or watching movies about the bad old Soviet Empire and the Russian people who made up the greatest part of it. It may come as a surprise, then, that Russian women and popular culture have had a long and attractive history with each other. It hasn't always been about thick-calved, severe looking and squat lady tractor drivers, after all.
At least since the 1960s and the Beatles' popular hit "Back in the USSR," Western men have appreciated true Russian women for their grace, poise and charm. And unlike the icy glare, highlighted by a screwed-down bun on the back of the head, most Russian women come in all hair colors and creamy skin tones.
To start off, there are the classic blond-haired, blue-eyed princesses of the Moscow and St. Petersburg regions. Many men would say there are none finer in all the land, if they were pressed to make a distinction among all the womanly beauty available at the click of a mouse these days. But, that only touches the tip of a very large iceberg, if the truth were to be told, for some women are blessed with a trace of ancient Tatar blood that gives them a kind of sloe-eyed beauty hard to match elsewhere.
And let's not forget the influence of all the Slavic races which have ever made their way through the Russian steppes and into the country, for theirs is the most predominant contribution of all. And Russian women of this descent share many traits with one of the most currently famous of them all, Anna Kournikova.
There's a dark, smoldering look to the female of this species, adorned as she is with silken blonde tresses and a doe-eyed, dark brown gaze that creates a longing in a man's heart that's hard to ignore. And that sort of look is everywhere in our culture these days, though the gaze may sometimes now be highlighted by aquamarine or creamy jade eye colors that are unforgettable.
Most Russian women, as a matter of fact, never need cosmetic or other enhancement-type surgeries in order to take maximum advantage of their naturally-given attributes. Their high Slavic cheekbones perfectly offset their pouty lips and smoldering gazes, which can be turned on and off in the literal blink of an eye!
Open the pages of almost any high-fashion magazine and there's bound to be a long-legged, slinky and sleek apparition of Russian attraction staring back out. It's no wonder, then, how accepted is the notion that Russia has some of the most naturally beautiful women on the planet. And the joy is that blonde mixes easily with brunette, which mixes even more easily with auburn or even red-haired.
In the end, there doesn't seem to be a circumstance imaginable where Russian women don't fit into our popular culture. Whether looking like the stereotypical "White Russian" of classic literature -- milk-skinned and hair made of the finest yellow silk -- or like a dark-eyed and dark-skinned Tatar or some other Oriental admixture from the far eastern reaches of the land, there's sure to be a woman to please even the most discerning man.
